A 30-year-long story.
On 13 August 2026, the Natural Products and Traditional Crafts Fair of the Valleys returns to Usseglio for its thirtieth edition. More than just a craft market, it is an unmissable event combining tradition, art, mountain culture and entertainment for the whole family.
The event will take place in the picturesque Piazza Cesare Ferro Milone and along Viale degli Alpini.
The Fair will open at 9:30 a.m., with more than 90 exhibitors showcasing their high-quality handcrafted products. The “L’Anello Forte di Usseglio” association will be present with its own stand, where visitors will be able to purchase beautiful creations made from wool, cotton and wood. A crochet workshop for adults and children will also be held from 2:00 p.m. Participation is by voluntary donation.
Starting at 10:00 a.m., the woodcarving competition will begin, offering visitors the opportunity to admire the skills and craftsmanship of the participating Craft Schools at close quarters. Pro Loco Usseglio, the organiser of the Fair, will serve lunch from 12:00 noon. Visitors will be able to book a menu on site featuring polenta, fondue, vegetables and beef stew, or enjoy the ever-popular “Mac d’Usoei”, a sandwich filled with turgia sausage.
Pro Loco’s culinary offerings will continue into the afternoon. From 3:30 p.m., portions of delicious apple fritters will be available.
From 4:00 p.m., the bravest participants will be able to take part in the log-cutting challenge using the “Stroumpoòu”, a traditional double-handled saw. The three pairs who cut through the log in the shortest time will receive baskets of local products. The entry fee is €15 per pair.
The day will be enlivened by traditional music and Franco-Provençal dances performed by “Passacarriera en festo”.
Throughout the day, visitors will be able to vote for their favourite exhibitor by completing a card provided by Pro Loco. At 6:00 p.m., the exhibitor with the highest number of votes will be announced and awarded, together with the wooden sculpture selected by a special jury. Three lucky winners will also be drawn from the voting cards and will each receive a basket of local products.
The celebrations will continue on 14 August. In front of the Grand’Usseglio Hotel, Franco-Provençal and Occitan music will return for the Gran Bal Folk, featuring Dino Tron and Passacarriera. The Priors of the Assumption will present the travelling performance “A Night at Pis Madai”. This will be followed by a fireworks display organised by the Municipality of Usseglio.
Pro Loco invites you to stay in Usseglio on 14 and 15 August as well, to celebrate the eve and feast day of the town’s patron saint.
