The most northerly of the three valleys, the Lanzo Grande Valley begins at Ceres and extends to Forno Alpi Graie, a hamlet of Groscavallo, where it divides into the striking Sea and Gura side valleys. Here it closes beneath the imposing rock faces and glaciers of the Levanne. In the upper valley, you can still hear the local dialect known as "a nostra moda", rooted in the ancient Franco-Provençal patois.
