Inaugurated in 2016, the Municipal Art Gallery Francesco Tabusso, in its permanent exhibition, contains over one hundred works of the most significant contemporary Piedmontese Artists from the post-war period to today. The first promoter of this collection was the figure of Francesco Tabusso (1930-2012), an Artist of international standing particularly linked to the territory of Rubiana since early childhood.

The Art Gallery is located only 500 meters from the family villa, built in 1906 and purchased by his ancestor Alfredo in 1926, which has always been his privileged reference point for summer holidays: many of his works saw the light here, created in the garden of the residence or in the attic used as a studio.

The Messa valley, surrounded by the Sella and Civrario massifs, with its forests crossed by rich water currents, exerted a great influence on the Master: the green that stands out in its multiple shades in various works by Tabusso – such as in the “Cantico delle Creature”, the imposing altarpiece at the Milanese church of San Francesco al Fopponino, painted precisely in Rubiana in the summer of 1975, is a tangible sign of the memory in the Artist, of the constant frequentation of the territory of Rubiana.

In this promotional initiative, Tabusso was joined by numerous friends – Artists of the caliber of Francesco Casorati, Giacomo Soffiantino, and Tino Aime – each of whom donated one of their own works, which joined those of the Master in the rooms of the Art Gallery.
