The Museum offers a journey through the Arte Tessile Lanzese, featuring tapestries by Elena Mars Albert, original 19th-century looms, and a valuable collection of vintage fashion. A site that preserves the memory of local craftsmanship and daily life between the 19th and 20th centuries.

Site overview

Inaugurated in its new location on July 10, 2021, the Museum exhibition is organized into the following path:

Section I – Tapestries. Exhibition of tapestries and other artifacts made from 1910 to 1935 by Elena Mars Albert together with some collaborators, subsequently donated to the Museum by the Albert Family.

Section II – work tools of the “Arte Tessile Lanzese” or “Arte Popolana Lanzese”. The room preserves numerous original tools/instruments used in Lanzo Torinese and the Lanzo Valleys for the production of fabrics embroidered in the manner of the “Lavoro di Lanzo”. Among the artifacts exhibited in the second section, the most valuable is the loom dating back to the end of the 19th century, which is still functional today.

Section III – clothes and accessories, the fashion of the past. Within this section is a collection of personal linen, clothes and accessories, baby layettes, and household linen dating from the late 19th century to the first half of the 20th century.

How to visit the site

Arriving in Lanzo Torinese from Strada Provinciale n. 2 (Via delle Valli), turn right before the tunnel; follow Via Frasca and the entire Via Umberto I until you reach the Museum, which is located at the end of the latter street. It is recommended to reach the site on foot by using the vehicle parking in the large Piazza Rolle, then proceeding towards the square in front, Piazza Peradotto, passing the Ala Mercatale (market wing) and walking through an ancient “chintana”. Upon arriving in Piazza Gallenga, via a stairway that leads to the medieval Tower of Aymone di Challant, you reach Via Usseglio. The ethnographic museum is located a short distance away.
