The Colle del Lys Ecomuseum commemorates the partisan struggle in the Viù Valley through exhibitions, historic trails, and panoramic views. Based in the old roadman’s house, it offers a journey through the symbolic places of the Resistance to reflect on the concept of resilience.
Site overview
A place of memory linked to the history of the local resistance, situated on the watershed between the Lanzo Valleys and the Susa Valley, with landscape views of remarkable beauty, the ecomuseum offers the opportunity to visit an interesting themed exhibition and to walk the historic “Partisan Trails,” thus reaching places that are symbols of the armed struggle in the Viù Valley.
The ecomuseum is organized into a headquarters, located in the old roadman’s house (casa cantoniera) at the Colle del Lys square, which includes a reception point on the ground floor and an exhibition space on the first floor, as well as a series of resources distributed throughout the territory aimed at guiding the visitor.
The places of memory are connected by ancient paths that have been rediscovered and restored, rich in memories and testimonies; by walking along them, the visitor can observe landscape views of great suggestion. The exhibition hall, which usually hosts the photographic exhibition dedicated to the partisans of the 17th Garibaldi Brigade, is occasionally used for exhibitions, debates, and conferences.
The museum features original exhibition displays that highlight the concept of resilience—meaning the capacity for resistance and survival in the face of adverse events. At Colle del Lys, resilience has been demonstrated both by people during the Second World War and by nature over the centuries.
