Site overview

A historic bridge that still connects the hamlet of Castiglione to that of Airola today. Crossing it means immersing oneself in a landscape dominated by the sound of water and discovering the ancient network of paths that for centuries ensured life and exchanges between the small communities of Coassolo.

How to visit the site

The mill is close to the carriage road, but the bridge is also included in the visiting itinerary in Coassolo among mills and bridges. Go up along the provincial road from Lanzo towards the main village of Coassolo San Nicolao. Shortly before arriving at the Church square, pay attention and take a narrow road on the right (signs for San Pietro and Castiglione), which must be followed until the junction at the houses of Castiglione; here, descend on the right for about 400 meters finding, at a right-hand curve, a small paved road on the left. Follow it for a short distance until reaching some signposts for paths on the right, at a clearing where you can leave the car. Following path no. 420 downwards, you immediately reach the beautiful Casassa bridge over the Tessuolo torrent (625 m).
